Bug and Feature Reporting

All bug reports, feature requests and discussions go to the integration's GitHub repository.

Check for Updates

Checking HACS ensures the absolute latest version of the integration is running before opening an issue. A reported bug or requested feature might already exist in a recent release.

Check the FAQ First

Unsupported devices, login/connection failures, and Home Assistant crashing or running out of memory are already covered on the FAQ page and are not bugs.

Requesting a Feature

New feature ideas and improvements are always welcome.

A clear description of the idea, the reasoning behind its usefulness and the envisioned functionality is required. Mockups, sketches, or examples from other apps, such as the official Dreame app, facilitate visual or behavioral change requests.

Requesting New Model Support Optional

The process of adding support for new device models is semi-automatic and included in every new integration release. While it is usually enough to simply wait for upcoming versions, a New Model Support request can be opened if needed.

When requesting support for a new device, the following information is required:

  • Home Assistant Version
  • Device Model Number
  • Unsupported Device Log (This must be extracted from the Home Assistant logs and provided in the issue)

Before opening the request, ensure that the latest version of the integration is installed, Home Assistant has been restarted, and the documentation's supported/unsupported device lists have been checked.

Asking a Question

For general inquiries or discussions that are not bugs or feature requests, a Question issue can be opened to ask for help or clarification about the project.

Reporting a Bug

Providing clear and detailed information when unexpected behavior occurs accelerates the resolution process. When opening a bug report, the following information is required:

  • Model Name (e.g., dreame.vacuum.p2028)
  • Firmware Version (e.g., 1156)
  • Home Assistant Version
  • Configuration Type
  • Errors or warnings from the Home Assistant logs (if applicable)

Get Debug Logs

Troubleshooting connection issues, missing entities, or unexpected states requires reviewing what the integration actually logged. Enabling debug logging captures far more detail than the default log level.

Debug logging can now be easily enabled directly from the Home Assistant user interface without editing configuration files. For detailed instructions on how to enable it and download the logs, please refer to the official Home Assistant Troubleshooting documentation.

Protect Sensitive Data

The full homeassistant.log file contains sensitive information, such as passwords, tokens, or personal identifiers from other integrations. Extracting and sharing only the parts related to dreame_vacuum protects this data. The entire log file should never be uploaded publicly without reviewing its contents.
